About the London Assessor Project

The LWBLA has received funding from the London LSC to deliver the London Assessor Project. LWBLA be working with Apprenticeship and Train to Gain providers to ensure total coverage across London and to ensure that as many providers as possible benefit from this exciting new project.

This project builds on the National Skills Strategy, the Leitch Review of Skills and World Class Apprenticeships to increase capacity amongst wbl providers, through directly targeting the lack of Assessors/Verifiers in the London wbl workforce. The project will be delivered by providers with previous experience and a track record in delivering successful Assessor/Verifier training. LWBLA is inviting potential delivery partners to apply to become the London Assessor Project delivery partners. This invitation is open to all Apprenticeship and Train to Gain providers including independent wbl and not for profit providers and FE Colleges.

Recent reports by the LSC and the London Skills and Employment Board identify the need to develop the infrastructure of publicly funded providers to better equip them to deliver an employer responsive training service. The LSEB report also noted a need for trainers to be up to date with the sectors they deliver in, and it is anticipated that of the 700 new entrants many will be transferring recently gained sector experience into the wbl workforce. The project will identify sectors where assessors/verifiers are needed and will put in place a structure to build capacity to support the growth and development of the two government vocational flagship programmes; Apprenticeships and Train to Gain
